Question: How long does the maintenance included in Univention products run?
Answer: That depends on the licensing agreement. As standard, Univention products are bought with one year of maintenance.
Question: What happens once the maintenance term expires?
Answer: As standard, the maintenance is automatically extended by a further year. If this extension is not required, notice of termination must be given at least three months prior to the expiry of the running contract.
Question: What costs are incurred as a result of the automatic extension of the maintenance?
Answer: The costs are based on the Univention price list.
Question: What happens if notice is given to terminate the maintenance and then the decision is taken to continue after all?
Answer: In this case, the price for the time with no maintenance has also to be paid.
Question: Does the maintenance also include support?
Answer: We understand maintenance as the maintenance, further development and quality assurance of software. Supporting users with concrete questions is the job of the support. In addition to the maintenance, all the Univention products also include support. Further information can be found here.
Question: How can I verfiy, whether a certain security vulnerability applies to UCS and whether a security fix is planned?
Answer: All known and analysed security issues are tracked in Univention Bugzilla. All security bugs are filed under the component "Security updates" for the product "UCS".
The easiest approach is to search for the CVE ID, a unique identifier for vulnerabilties (e.g. CVE-2012-1000). The CVE ID is usually listed in security advisories.
Many Security issues, which do not apply to UCS are also tracked in Univention Bugzilla.
