Univention Corporate Server (UCS) includes an immediately ready-to-use solution for identity, infrastructure and virtualization management. This solution allows central, cross-location and cross-platform administration via a simple, self-explanatory web application and at the same time includes many tools and interfaces for the automation of administrative procedures and interfaces for the connection of additional software solutions.
Cost-effective, innovative and scalable
UCS is a cost-effective complete solution which can be used as an expansion or as a replacement for existing infrastructure components. The product unites a tried-and-tested server operating system with user, infrastructure and virtualization management in one complete solution and can thus take on the tasks of multiple products usually run in parallel. UCS is suitable for use in small, but also in complex, heterogeneous IT environments with many thousand users.
Comprehensive support of Microsoft Windows
UCS was developed for use as an expansion or alternative to Microsoft Windows-based server systems. For this reason, the integrated connector for Microsoft Active Directory allows the simple integration with existing user and rights administration in the Microsoft environment. However, UCS can also adopt the functions of Active Directory domain controller itself and is thus a flexible and cost-effective platform for example for the management of clients operated with Windows 7 or Windows XP.
Safe integration of cloud-based applications
The management system of UCS has been optimised for central and safe administration of IT infrastructures with multiple locations. At the same time, it offers the basis for the integration of classical user and right management systems with applications in the cloud. UCS thus makes it possible to decide flexibly whether an application is run in the local computer centre or with a cloud provider.
A single point of administration
With Univention Management Console (UMC) UCS includes a powerful web application, which realises a single point of administration for system administration and domain and virtualization management. UMC is intuitively operable, based on AJAX technology and offers a range of interfaces for the integration of additional functions.
Flexibly and simply expandable
The plug-in architecture of the UCS management system and different interfaces offers room for extensive adaptations and expansions. Solutions for customers and third parties can also be easily integrated. A selection of third-party solutions for UCS are available under "Certified solutions".
Simple start-up and maintenance
UCS is preconfigured ready for use, which keeps implementation efforts to a minimum. UCS releases and security updates can be imported automatically or manually. At the same time, using central software distribution it is easy to ensure that all systems are at the same level. In addition, a centrally controllable rollout system allows the quick installation of even large environments containing Linux-based and Windows-based systems.
Tried-and-tested operating system basis: Debian
The reliable basis of UCS is Debian GNU/Linux. Univention combines the entire Debian repository and additional software packages relevant for professional applications in one complete system. Additional tests and comprehensive quality assurance are used to ensure the necessary reliability for use in business-critical areas.
Platform-independent and manufacturer-independent
UCS supports the operation of Linux/Unix, Windows and Mac OS X in an integrated, centrally administrated environment.
