Univention Corporate Client (UCC) is a flexible and very economic alternative for the operation and administration of PCs, notebooks and thin clients in companies and institutions. The software contains a Linux-based desktop environment optimised for business use. In addition, UCC serves as a platform for access to remote desktop solutions and virtualized desktops as well as browser or terminal server-based applications.

UCC allows an extremely high degree of adaptation of the desktops to suit the respective hardware and application purpose and can be conveniently and efficiently managed via the web-based Univention Management Console. UCC also guarantees integrated administration procedures for users, clients, desktops or rights and effectively does away with the use of different, uncoordinated tools.

What does Univention Corporate Client include?

Univention Corporate Client (UCC) is an expansion to the Univention Corporate Server which can be installed from the Univention App Center. Among other things, this expansion includes:

  • Additonal functions for Univention Management Console for the administration of PCs, notebooks or thin clients, which are operated with UCC (for example, rollout, distribution of updates, configuration of client software or desktops)
  • Preconfigured, immediately ready-to-use compositions of client operating systems and desktops for a wide range of application scenarios (thin client and complete desktop)
  • A tool kit for creating personalised desktop configurations for special scenarios
  • Like all Univention products, UCC is delivered with maintenance and support.

  • Microsoft Windows Terminal Server (as of 2003)
  • Citrix Presentation Server / Citrix XenApp (ICA)
  • Linux terminal server (UCC terminal services)
  • VMware Desktop Virtualization (VMware View)
  • As such, optimally suited for use as a convenient Linux desktop

Consequently, UCC is the ideal platform for access to hosted, virtual desktops or webbased applications. In addition to optimal support of Microsoft Windows, UCC expands the features already included in UCS for mounting Linux clients with the possibility of
    completely managing Linux-based clients.

    After all, UCC also includes an integrated Linux desktop with the tried-and-tested and user-friendly user interface KDE and the Office suite LibreOffice. That translates to more choice and flexibility for users.

      Testing and purchasing

      Prerequisite for the use of Univention Corporate Client (UCC) is UCS 3.1. UCC can be installed via the Univention App Center with a few mouse clicks. A test version of UCS can be downloaded in the download section.

      The client operating system UCC contains two images, one for desktop systems and one for thin clients as well as a tool for the production of adjusted desktop images. Detailed price information can be found in our price list.
