Univention Corporate Server (UCS) is predominantly based on the source code of Debian GNU/Linux. The UCS kernel is created on the basis of the kernel sources from Debian GNU/Linux with an almost identical configuration. Consequently, UCS generally supports all the systems (i386 and amd64) that are supported by Debian GNU/Linux.
UCS is delivered with several kernel versions. Each UCS major version (e.g., UCS 2.x) contains a standard kernel, which is maintained throughout the major version's entire product life cycle (e.g., UCS 2.0, UCS 2.1, UCS 2.2, etc.). Newer kernel versions for UCS may also be published from time to time to facilitate the support of the latest hardware.
